It's value of use as a fish attractor is never ending especially in tying fishing flies. It's capability of providing life like movement to a suggested pattern is never ending.
One fly pattern, (The Zonker) does it all.
The angler can have a choice by adding weight, lead wire, various types of eyes, such as Bead Chain, Lead or Non-Toxic eyes such as Lead Barbell or Presentation style eyes in various colors. In order to portray the swimming or an escaping movement you can add various weights to hooks in various places on the hooks and manipulate the stripping or erratic rod movements to entice a strike. The fur strip portrays life. This can represent lizards, tadpoles, snakes, escaping baitfish and injured prey of all kinds. Flash materials can also be added to the pattern to imitate a more life like appearance.
