Who We Are

At Tranquil River Fly Shop & Outfitters, our story began on the water. After exiting the service, our founder discovered the restorative power of fly fishing through Veteran focused programs.

We are a Veteran-owned shop dedicated to one thing: connecting you with the water. For us, success isn’t measured by the bottom line or revenue, but by the confidence you feel when you step into the current or up to the bank.

We believe the rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, oceans and other bodies of water offer a unique kind of peace, and we’re here to help you find it—one cast at a time.

Buying Local

It may seem counterintuitive for an online store to tell you to buy local - but I mean it. There are many small mom & pop fly shops out there that are in dire need of your support. If you can, buy and order products through them first before buying online.

A brick and mortar Fly shop may not seem like a vital part of our hobby - but it truly is. Fly shops are mostly operated by experienced, enthusiastic anglers who want nothing more than to keep the hobby alive, relevant and accessible to all.

Fly shops offer an in person connection and are an extension of what makes Fly fishing so special. They provide a place for beginners to get advice and for seasoned pros to share their expertise. They're our gateway to the wilderness and a vital stepping stone on our way to connecting with nature in ways that are hard to put into words.

Support your community by choosing to buy local whenever possible. If you don't have a local fly shop, or they can't order something that we offer, then by all means please order here.

Business Model & How You Get Your Stuff

It's important for you to know how we're starting, and where we're going. Our initial model is to utilize partner shops through Shopify Collective to ship and fulfill orders. Eventually, products that we maintain in inventory will be listed - things like flies that we tie, rods that we build, custom built fly boxes, etc. will be clearly marked in its own section.

One day when it is viable, we hope to open a brick and mortar shop as close to the water as possible.

We're a new business as of April, 2026. That may deter some from giving us a shot, but we hope not. To limit the initial risk of starting the business, we use Shopify Collective to partner with other shops that will ship and fulfill your orders. 

We look through the collective to curate gear that we believe will give you the best fly fishing experience for the money, and collect it here on our page, so that you don't have to try and build that from scratch - especially newcomers.

Other stores and suppliers that we partner with will ship and fulfill your orders that you make through our storefront. If you have a bad experience with one of our suppliers or one of the products listed we want to know - please reach out and contact us. We'll do what we can to make it right.
